Consultation: The Private High School admissions process at The Word Loft begins with a family consultation during which we help you understand, manage and organize the many questions you and your child will have to answer: Which high school is right for my child? How does the process even work? Is a specialized, charter or alternative school an option for my child, or is a private, selective school a better fit? What about entrance exams - the ISEE/ERBs?
Process: The Word Loft coach helps families understand the distinct differences in the complicated, and often confusing, processes for applying to independent schools versus public/specialized schools. Meeting privately with the student and his or her parents, we identify and discuss the student’s high school goals, paying particular attention to both immediate needs and the longer term educational plan. Together, we create a list of the information about the student’s desires, talents and academic interests and achievements which is necessary to create a comprehensive student profile. The student, coach and parents then use this profile to identify paths to private high schools that have the potential to be a good fit educationally and socially for both student and family.
Schedule: Appointments are scheduled individually.
